Touch of Sunshine

v.1
I walk into the gym
After eight months from home
From a place were my life
Seemed so small
The love and gifts
These children give to me
They’re the reasons I fight
in this war

The overwhelming tears
When my wife and I appear
As my little girls run to me

C
And for one swift moment
This war’s washed away
As two little girls cling to me
The tears in their eyes
Their beautiful smile
Is the reason for the risk that I take
And that touch of sunshine on their face

v.2
I think of the men
That I’ve left behind
And what this class has
Meant to them
The families torn by war
The life I’ve had to take
Makes ones heart and soul
Seem so cold

As the crowd stands I hear
The overwhelming cheers
From the children of this class

C
And for one swift moment
This war’s washed away
As two little girls cling to me
The tears in their eyes
Their beautiful smile
Is the reason for the risk that I take
And that touch of sunshine on their face

Tag
It’s worth all the evils I defeat
Just to see they’re safe
And that touch of sunshine on their face
