Creek Water Risin’

This winter had been harder
As he looked upon that old hickory tree
All he had was this old cabin, a wife and son
And years of poverty
His crops had rotted in the ground
As the pelting rain came down
Two months now
Creek water risin’

The burden made him harder
As the wind stirred on the old oak tree
All he knew was they were starving, the damage done
Please spare his family
Still they stood proud as proud
As the tempest swirled around
Hand in hand
Creek water risin’

The gale turned to hail
White lightning flashed across the sky
As his wife and son began to praying
Their faith in the all mighty never swaying
Still they rushed to higher ground
In hopes they’d be found
Step by step
Creek water risin’

Three hundred homes on lower ground
Now sir come the fate around
Creek water risin’

How many lost will be revealed
As the storm unveils
Creek water risin’
